Christmas is a celebration of love, joy, and cherished moments. It is the most magical season of the year, where winter’s chill unfolds the joy in our hearts with the sparkling lights of stars and the colorful views of adornments. It is the most joyous time, which is the epitome of compassion, where people share love with each other in beautifully wrapped boxes, placing something in them to be cherished in memories forever. Have you gotten such a gift during this season? Or can you remember the biggest gift you got on Christmas?
Let’s just peep into the reason behind exchanging gifts on Christmas.
“When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the Child with His mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped Him. Then they opened their treasures and presented Him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh” (Matthew 2:10, 11). The wise men from the East presented valuable gifts to the young Child on His birth, who was born to save the world. For over 2000 years, people have been celebrating the young baby’s birth as Christmas and there starts Christmas gifts. Yes! We all know that.
Why is His birth so important?
We read in Matthew 1:20, 21 as an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.
This unique birth, which is a baby born of a virgin to save the world, written in the scriptures several years ago. Yes! The Savior is born, Jesus Christ is born!
If His birth is so valuable as this much, as it is celebrated world-wide over a couple of millenia, have you ever thought how valuable His death is?
He has given us the greatest GIFT through His DEATH, the most precious gift that we could ever receive. He, Jesus, the Son of God, who was born to save the world, has died on the cross, taking our sins to grant us eternal life in heaven with the Father Lord.
Because, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).
God’s Love is the greatest gift that He sends to you this Christmas season.
Let’s pause to remember to think about the true reason behind the season. The scent of Christmas is the smell of the love of God, the Christmas decorations depict the wounds on His body that adorn His love for us, the crown of thorns makes His love shine like a sparkling star that brings light into our lives filled with darkness.
He is waiting for you to present the gift.
Are you ready to receive it?
